About
Chris Green developed a love for writing and storytelling at an early age, writing, editing and publishing his own neighborhood newspaper well before he became a teenager.
His passion for writing led him into the field of journalism, where he’s reported professionally since the age of 17. He went on to became an award-winning investigative reporter covering government and politics at the local, state and federal levels.
For four years, Chris worked from inside the Kansas Statehouse, writing about state government and politics for a group of newspapers located mostly in central and western Kansas. He has made appearances on both radio and television programs to discuss his stories.
Most recently, Chris has been responsible for helping the Kansas Leadership Center launch its case studies series. KLC is a first-of-its-kind statewide leadership development organization based in Wichita. Working with the center’s faculty and staff, he has researched and written about actual dilemmas being faced in Kansas communities.
The reports cover a variety of topics, including physician access in rural Kansas, the passage of comprehensive smoking ordinance in a municipality and efforts to approve a legislative health reform package. These teaching cases are similar to the ones utilized successfully in programs at Harvard University and other institutions.
Having lived overseas for a year while attending graduate school in Scotland, Chris has traveled the globe and loves adventure. He enjoys experiencing new culture, scenery, food and history, whether he’s hiking through the Malaysian jungle, sitting on a sandy Spanish beach or strolling through Kansas’ ruggedly beautiful Flint Hills.
When he’s not writing, Chris enjoys reading, cooking, listening to and playing music, and spending time with his wife, Sarah Green. He’s also a devoted follower of great storytelling radio programs, including This American Life and The Moth, which help inspire him to keep finding and telling great stories.
